In late 2002 I decided for a career change. I went back to school for computer technology. ie. building, networking, installation and configuring.
I've always had an interest in electronics and gadgets. As a young boy, my father was smart enough to introduce tools to me. I use to open up old radios, calculators and walkmans, just to see what was inside. If they were broken, I'd attempt to fix them. Most times I'd take them apart just to put them back together again.
After I finished the computer technology program, I immediately started my search for employment. I quickly found out that even though I had schooling, no company would hire me without minimally 2 years experience working in the field.
I didn't give up in my efforts.
Eventually, in 2004, I was found by Terry, the owner of Superior Fax & Laser (Now The Toner Kings) on an employment site where I posted my resume. Terry was looking for person with electronic / IT experience to help handle the fax repair at his accounts. Four years later we grew into a large toner supplier and opened up the area of machines we serviced. This growth allowed us to venture into refurbishing printers and MFP machines where we remain a staple in the Syracuse area.
In 2011, when our toner sales were through the roof, Terry and I thought about creating a separate toner company from our service and machine sales side. I played with some name ideas and did research for domain names available. Then The Toner Kings was created. We introduced the name to our customers on invoices and email campaign ads after the logo was created. We looked for customer feedback.
This ran for about 7 years before we decided to make the name change.
Over the last 15+ years, I've become the combined sales & service manager for all supplies and machines. I am continuously re-educating myself as the market of machines and their associated supplies change as well.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, doing yard work and also being a soccer coach for over 25 years, where I've worked with recreational, high school and club programs. I'm currently an '09 girls coach for Syracuse Development Academy, the most successful club in Central New York, where I worked with my daughters’ '05 team for 6 years. She's now off to college where I continue to attend all of her games.
